in the new book "live with jehovah's day in mind" it refers to habakkuk 1:3- (partial quote-what else):and why are despoiling and violence in front of me?

it then asks the question: would he (habakkuk) set aside time to be a spectator at so-called sports events that are violent by design, players even wearing protective armor like that of ancient gladiators?

watch the anti-football/hockey jackasses come out of the woodwork on this one.. the wacktower, babble and crap society is at it again.

Respect Jehovah’s arrangement for discipline.

Does this turn anybody's elses stomach as well? Just more of the 'Don't question our authority' bullcr*p to keep the R and F marching to their collective beat. I see, these men have been anointed by god to discipline anybody that gets out of line ... but heaven forbid they actually care about someone weak in the faith and could use some encouragement.

They are just men. They are not appointed by anything 'higher' than whose ass they kiss the most in the cong. This part of the article really made me sick.

What little things get you upset?

i get upset very fast, if a product i use since years gets discontinued.

gee, if the weatherman says it's 75 degrees outside and i know it's 80, i'll phone him and tell him to get a better thermometer or put glasses on.

often i feel like writting to the mayor and ask him what is he waiting for to pave the streets of the whole city.

I don't know if this fits into the 'little' thing catagory ... but what makes me upset is when someone, possibly of the opposite gender, acts like they are interested in you (maybe in that 'more than a friend' mode) even suggesting that you "get together sometime", and then without any explanation they just drop you like a hot rock, not even talking to/emailing you anymore.

If you don't like someone that way, then don't act like you do. And if you did like them, and it's now changed, let that person know why/how your feelings changed.

wifey and i were basically non-drinkers whilst in the dubland fantasy.

now we drink an occasional glass of wine or pina colada.. we're not very imaginative with it.

i know some understand the fruit of the vine well [like our buddy in oz, ozzie] and others enjoy mixed drinks.. which ones - and how do you make 'em?.

I like Dams response, pretty much what I drink ... but a few simple drinks that my female friends like are Midori mixed with Sprite and Amaretto (sp?) mixed with Ruby Red Squirt. J.D. is also good mixed with regular Squirt ... poor man's wiskey sour.

first off, i want to make it clear, i am not accusing anyone of any misdeeds.

there are alot of topics on here like; "show your picture, what do you do for a living?, how did you pick your screen name?

these are probably innocent posts by nice people.

I'm the one who came up with the 'screen name' thread and I can tell you in all honesty that it was just curiosity on my part. I have nothing to hide, so that's even why I went first. I don't think there is anything in a person's screen name that can give away their identity unless they post their full name.

I belong to several message boards, not all religious in nature, and this was a popular question on both of them ... so I asked it here.

Like some others have said ... if you don't feel confortable sharing something, don't post in the thread.

i think some people actually use part of their real name.

i chose mine because i really feel 'in between', in that space where your not a jw anymore but really haven't figured out where you are in life and what path you want to take.

just thought it would be an interesting topic.

you get a new bible, and as you opened it, you notice that the pages all stuck together in these onion skin thin pages.

so you start separating them, with that crack snip and then separated sound.

that was fun, let me do another, i wonder if i could get through all of genesis before this guy finishes his talk.
